MSHA PART 46 NEW MINER COURSE

MSHA Part 46 training applies to miners working at surface mines, including shell dredging, sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay, colloidal phosphate, and surface limestone mines. It mandates training for new miners, newly hired experienced miners, and miners assigned to new tasks. This training ensures miners can recognize and avoid hazards, understand emergency procedures, and handle materials safely. A key component is annual refresher training, requiring at least eight hours per year.

Who is it For?

MSHA Part 46 Training is for those working in “shell dredging or employed at sand, gravel, surface stone, surface clay, colloidal phosphate, surface limestone, marble, granite, sandstone, slate, shale, traprock, kaolin, cement, feldspar, and lime mines (MSHA, 2017).” Training is required if you are:
